NY Times Politics, The Caucus, July 7, 2008 - “Congress returns today and lawmakers will no doubt be comparing scars from their run-ins with constituents angry over the increased cost of driving. Members of the House and Senate both report hearing mounting public anxiety over gas prices specifically and the economy in general as they made their way around their districts and states before returning for five weeks until Congress breaks for August and the national party conventions. Republicans are making it clear that they intend to try to score political points against Democrats by accusing them of holding up expanded domestic oil production and contributing to the $4-and-up gas.” Read more.
